Let us legalize honor.
In sixteenth and seventeenth century Spain, honor was
written into an official code as a legal trait.
Honor was an obsession in the Spanish Golden Age for all members of
society. You know, honor, like worthiness, noble deeds, reputation, principals,
good stuff.
If we turn self honor into a modern legality, we would
certainly be headed in a golden direction.
Now, turning honor into a cultural obsession may be trickier than making
it legal.
Spanish Golden Age honor, for example, is so attractive that
honor and fame went hand in hand.
Tomorrow, the Spanish Golden Age relationship between honor,
fame and emblematic literature, Golden Age emblems are a case of, “if a picture
could tell a thousand words”.
