American Civil War and the State of Virginia


Did you know that more than 50 percent of the Civil War was fought in Virginia?

After realizing the strategic significance of Virginia, Richmond Virginia it became the capital of the former Confederate States of America, 80 miles from Washington.

Virginia became a deadly line of battle, for a soldier's  hazardous excursion to Richmond. Richmond was Confederacy's capital until its end in April 1865.
