My cynicism though leads me towards thinking that once Amazon have all the authors under their wing, the will screw them even worse in the future than the Big 6 have done.
They have already started in fact by insisting that publishers and authors reduce their ebook prices by 90% (Not a typo) for a sales campaign in October. Oddly, Kindles are not being reduced by even 1% for Amazon's ebook bonanza sale.
One fact remains the same. If you're an author, you'll get screwed by whoever owns the distribution.
